Now that all of your Holiday projects are completed, your machine is due for a good cleaning, and check-up….bring it in to the shop and Jim will take it into Atlanta Sewing Center…he goes every Monday, so if you have your machine in the shop by Sat. at closing, he will take it in on Monday, and return it the following Monday. November 12th, 2008Happy Veterans Day!! The leaves are beautiful, the temp. is crisp, and the time is right to be sewing. Linda is offering several wonderful lessons…Her Holly/Hunter-Lucy lesson teaches adding piping and a ruffle to the hem of a garment (I can’t wait to learn that myself!!). My latest project was completing a bed jacket..an easy, quick welcome gift for anyone who must spend time in bed or a wheelchair. I’ve ordered several of the patterns Joy had used in her trunk show, and they should be arriving by the end of the week…also re-stocked many of Ellen McCarn’s smocking plates. We have some wonderful holly Swiss embroidered insertion that would embellish that special Holiday outfit, for yourself or a loved ones. I will try to post pics of several items this week…and also get the Dec. calendar posted. Come see us…and keep stitchin’ Sylvia

November 5th, 2008Hello!! Hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful Indian summer..the trees in our yard are a beautiful red and gold. We are gearing up for the busy Holidays ahead of us…I was working on some smocked ornaments yesterday, and want to begin working on a new pattern for a bed jacket today…a gift for an elderly friend of the family. The new Martha Pullen Gift of the Month is ready…the embroidery is a whimsical motif that has a reindeer face, an ornament (Christmas ball). and a stocking…the project is a silk patchwork stocking…if your time is short, you can “cheat” a little and make a one piece stocking, and use some of the fancy embroidery stitches on your sewing machine (or by hand if you wish) where the seams for patchwork would be. I will try to get the picture on the gallery later today. The applique trunk show is gone, but my head is full of wonderful ideas. Thank you Joy for sharing. Hope to see y’all soon. Keep stitchin’ and have a great week. Sylvia
