Beginning Smocking Part 1
Join us as we learn the basic stitches of English smocking. Tips given to
ensure your first project is of heirloom quality!!! A most relaxing and rewarding
form of handiwork. Go home with a sampler of stitches and a list of smocking terms
to use as you create articles for your family and friends. The only supplies you
need are a pair of scissors to snip threads, and a readiness to learn.
Beginning Smocking Part 2
Now that you have mastered the basic smocking stitches, put them into your
first project. Choose from a ladies nightgown (pretty enough for a bride or maybe
even a second honeymoon!!), or an infant baby bonnet (perfect for your first grand-
child, a gift for a special baby, or maybe even a teddy bear or doll).
Both projects use the same smocking design....only size of piece, and construction is
different. You may want to do both!!! We will also learn to adapt the nightgown
pattern to make a child's sundress or nighty. Two three hour sessions.
Bullion stitch technique class
You've mastered the basic geometric smocking stitches and now are ready
to add the delicate touch of bullion flowers to you work. Learn how to do the
bullion stitch and then convert this stitch to work dainty flowers, bows, and
more on your finest sewing project. Great as an extra touch on collars, sleeve
bands, and button bands for everyone....baby through Grandma!!!
Join us and learn to master this heirloom technique.

Picture Smocking techniques
Admired those darling children's outfits, and wanted to make some of your own
for the little ones in your life? Come join us as we learn to stack cables and form
"pictures" in your smocking. You'll be surprised to leaaran how easy this is and
how many items benefit with the addition of a smocked "picture". A working knowledge
of basic geometric smocking stitches is a pre-requisite for this class.
Kit is available in class for $5.00. The only thing you bring is a pair of scissors
to snip threads and a thimble if you use one.
Beginning Sewing 1
Come and learn to sew!!! this two-session course will teach you the basics while
making a pillow case. We will discuss needles, threads, seams, pressing techniques,
measuring, how to read patterns, construction, and have fun while learning!!! Come in
to store to register, and pick up a supply list.
Beginning Sewing 2
Come learn to sew!!! This two-sewwion course will build on the basics learned in
Beginning Sewing 1 while making a girl's jumper, or boy's shortall. We will discuss
gathering, buttonholes, garment construction, and have fun doing it!!!

Counter-change Technique class
Don't have a pleater? Learn to smock on either striped or gingham fabric. There is
no need to pre-pleat with this technique made popular again by Ann Haley. This is
a technique that is perfect to use on dresses for our girls who think that English
Smocking is too "baby-ish" but still enjoy having special dresses made for them.
Kit is available in class for $5.00. Theonly supplies you need are a scissors to snip
threads, and a thimble, if you use one.
Heirloom Technique class
Have you always ad;mired the delicate garments adorned with heirloom techniques?
Join us to de-mystify; these time honored techniques as we work with entredeaux,
fine laces and delicate batiste. Go home with samples of these techniques and be
prepared to make an heirloom creation to be proud of.
Kit is available in class for $5.00. All you need to bring is your machine with
manual, thread, wound bobbin, and a pair of scissors to snip thread.
Magic Madeira Technique class
A Madeira applique border adds the perfect finishing touch to any heirloom sewing
project.Learn this simple "magic" method and go home with an heriloom infant-sized
pillowcase, the perfect place for embroidery of child's name, birthdate, and/or pretty
design.

Shell Hem and Hand Embroidery stitches
Admired the delicate shell hem on heirloom garments? You can reproduce these with
ease, and further embellish your garments with some hand embroidery stitches. The
addition of these stitches to a purchased garment will add your own personal, special
touch.
Kit is available in class $5.00. You just bring scissors to clip threads.
Intermediate Sewing
Join us as you continue your sewing adventure! This two-session course will
build on the techniques learned in the Beginning Sewing courses while making
a lady's A-line skirt. We will learn how to make darts, insert a zipper and enjoy
ourselves!! Come by the shop to register and pick up a supply list.
Commonly Used Hand Sewing Stitches
Do you want to know how to make a nearly invisible hem? Or is your machine
not making a buttonhole properly on your fabric? Come and learn these and other
hand stitches used in garment construction. We will learn the buttonhole, blind
hem, backstitch, catch stitch, and slip stitch. Come by the shop to register and
pick up your supply list.
Shadow Embroidery Technique Class
Join us as we explore the basics of Shadow Embroidery. This technique places the
thread on the back side of a sheer fabric, creating a "shadow" effect when viewed
from the right side. Shadow embroidery is a perfect way to add a delicate touch of
embellishment to a sleeve cuff, button band, and/or collar of your blouse or any
place a touch of embroidery is called for. Kit is available in class for $5.00.
Applique technique Class
In this class we will explore the various applique techniques. Several machine
techniques will be explained and demonstrated by the teacher while the student
will have the opportunity to execute several methods of hand applique. Kit is
available in class for $5.00.

This cute little critter will bring a smile to your face as she holds your pins
nearby. Join us as we fashion a pincushion, too cute to believe!!! A perfect
tuck-in gift for a special seamstress in your life, or a Secret Pal. These are
